Nintendo has been active this week, announcing several updates, including the addition of Mario Paint to the Super Nintendo app on Switch Online. Recent insights into this update reveal that users can now remap controls within this specific library, alongside an enhanced CRT filter designed to better simulate the original experience from the SNES era as viewed on older TVs.

Online comparisons highlighting the differences between the old and new CRT filters have already surfaced, showcasing the significant improvements. Polygon has featured these changes, labeling the new CRT filter as “transformative” through a series of screenshots.

Further comments on social media reflect users’ positive reception. “God damn, the updated CRT filter on SNES NSO is really nice,” shared user Liam. Other users have also chimed in, sharing their comparisons and praising the quality of the new filter. Tweets showcasing before-and-after images hint at a substantial upgrade, with one user noting, “The new filter is a real improvement.”

This update for the SNES app follows a similar enhancement made for the Nintendo 64 app, coinciding with the launch of the Switch 2 and the GameCube library. Additionally, alongside the Mario Paint release, the update introduces mouse support and Joy-Con 2 mouse mode functionality.E-SPORTS
